- Teachers will be presenting specific information about their class, along with course content, work and class expectations, and tips on how to be successful in class.
- Discuss interventions and opportunities available for ALL SHS students.
- Parents are encouraged to ask questions and seek information.
In preparation, parents will buy new backpacks, lunch boxes and tennis shoes. But is that everything you need for the trip back-to-school? Almost…..
The PTA “Write-1-Check” campaign for last school year was a HUGE success! PTA's goal was to be able to provide financial support to all PTA-sponsored activities throughout the school year.
Because of the generosity and support of our SISD families, PTA did not have to send out any Friday Folder flyers or E-alerts soliciting monetary support.
The PTA one-time donation of $40 per SES/SMS student is a suggested amount based on prior year funding needs. (Log on to SISD PTA website for details on PTA SES/SMS sponsored events and activities provided with your Write-1-Check Donation).
If enough families participate, SES/SMS PTA won’t have to request financial donations from parents for the rest of the 2014-15 school year!
Click here to download the form. Print, fill out, and bring with you along with your donation to Meet the Teacher Night.

SISD NAMES NEW SHS PRINCIPAL
Sunnyvale ISD’s Board of Trustees recently named Ron Sterling, Jr. Sunnyvale High School’s new principal. Trustees approved Superintendent Doug Williams’ recommendation for Sterling’s hire at a called meeting in June.
"Ron’s experience and well-rounded background is an excellent match for the high school,” Superintendent Doug Williams said. “His vision for our students and their future fits our overall district mission.”
Sterling, an experienced administrator with a proven track record for excellence in school leadership, joins SISD after serving as the Associate Principal of Campus Operations at Little Elm High School and was on the path to promotion for the 2014-2015 school year. Prior to that, he served as the campus’ Interim Deputy Principal. Before joining LEISD, Sterling worked as a campus administrator at John Tyler High School in Tyler, where he performed a variety of leadership and teaching roles.
“I knew about Sunnyvale and the excellence in the district, as far as academics and extracurricular activities,” Sterling said. “Sunnyvale is one of those districts that you know that if you have an opportunity to be a part of it, you take that chance because there’s nothing but positives.”
“This is ideal for my family, especially with three boys,” he continued. “To have them all in the same area with me is – well, I continue to pinch myself.”
Among the first items on Sterling’s agenda will be assessing SHS’ needs. He plans to build on the momentum of the already successful high school and its faculty and enhance the programs that are already in place.
Maintaining strong ties to SISD parents and the community is a top priority for Sterling.
“We are in the business of customer service,” Sterling said. “It takes a village and I’m open to that. I have an open door policy and I’m big on getting to know parents and the community. I’m big on customer service. In our line of business, our students, parents and the community are our consumers.”
Mr. Sterling and his wife, Suzana have three children: Ron III, Devin and Jaylon will all attend SISD in the fall. The Sterlings are currently looking for homes in the area.
Sunnyvale ISD PTA is pleased to bring the reflections program to our district.
Some members of the SISD community may already be familiar with this program.
